On the Boards: 4508 California Avenue SW

The proposal for our 4508 California Apartments was approved unanimously this week by Seattle’s Southwest Design Review Board. This 7-story, mixed-use project is located along California Avenue SW in West Seattle’s Junction neighborhood and will provide affordable and market-rate residential units, as well as hospitality and commercial space within the community. Engaging with California Avenue’s existing activity and the distinctive program of diverse uses, our design for the building includes one lodging level, 3,540 square feet of retail shops, and one level of underground parking including 63 bike stalls.

The street frontage along California Avenue will consist of commercial spaces and a residential entry lobby. A rooftop deck will offer views of Puget Sound, Bainbridge and Vashon Islands, and the Olympic Peninsula. The inclusion of extensive and coordinated fenestration throughout the design’s multifamily and retail components will create an appealing, active façade that contributes to and further activates the Junction's vibrant streetscape and community.
