Local and state officials will join development partners and the Tacoma community to celebrate the ground breaking of Tacoma Town Center today. This multi-phase mixed-used development is Tacoma’s highest valued private development in its history.

The Tacoma Town Center is an urban infill development as part of the city’s master plan to improve areas south of downtown.  Included as part of the project is a public street vacation which will be transformed into a retail plaza tying the development together.  The plaza includes an important connection of the city’s master bike path plan to the University of Washington Tacoma campus.  Phase I of the project consists of 226K sf of retail space, 367 housing units, including 144 units marketed towards students.  Current plans for Phase II are for 260 market rate housing units and 10,000 additional sf of retail over a common parking garage.

Many local organizations, financial institutions and government leaders played a role in the development of this project. Partners in the project include: North America Asset Management Group (Developer), Caron Architecture (Architect), KPG Interdisciplinary Design (Surveyor), BergerABAM (Civil), GHA Landscape Architects (Landscape Architect), Geotech Consultants Inc. (Geotechnical Engineer), Lucia Engineering, Inc (Shoring), RDH Building Science Inc. (Energy), PCS Structural Solutions (Structural), Tres West Engineers, Inc. (Mechanical & Electrical).

Phase I is expected to finish in summer 2019.
