8 Tower Receives Design Review Approval
8 Tower successfully passed DRB this past Tuesday, becoming Seattle's slimmest tower yet. The proposed design calls for 42-stories and 312 units and 72 below-grade parking spaces.
Located in the heart of Seattle’s Denny Triangle neighborhood, the 8 Tower will provide a Class A multi-family property located in close proximity to the Amazon campus. The unique location offers unobstructed views of Lake Union, the Space Needle, Seattle’s Downtown Skyline and Elliott Bay. The tower is located on a triangular-shaped lot, creating unique architectural opportunities for facade treatments.
The building’s solitary site and urban context was inspiration to seek out a natural and articulated form of a fragmented monolith, that has been crafted by external and internal forces. The vision is based on a cohesive concept of chamfers and fissures, seemingly randomly placed, but which in their totality produce a harmonious and aesthetically-appealing facade which changes as one views the tower from different sides.
